FEMALE Lycaena Dispar
This photo of a female Lycaena Dispar was taken in early spring on the Fondation René Clément’s ORE nature reserve.
She has flown off to join a nearby male Lycaena Dispar.
The Lycaena Dispar is a protected species :
Annexe II of the Bern Convention places the Lycaena Dispar on their strictly
protected list :
“It is illegal to disturb them, trap them or destroy their breeding grounds.”
In the Le Livre rouge published by the Museum national d’Histoire naturelle
and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) the Lycaena Dispar is listed as a
“species vulnerable or in danger”.
