Résumé
In 1938 the archæologist and geologist Jules Barthoux led an expedition to the Yemen, hoping to find traces of the ancient kingdom of Saba. He made no great archæological discoveries, but René Clément filmed his arrival at the port of Hodeïda and their visit to Sa’na in this unique documentary which shows the Yemeni landscapes, the local architecture and the customs and crafts of a people who had hardly changed their way of life since the Middle Ages.
